Description
Martin Archer is best known for his long running collaboration with Julie Tippetts, producing a run of five diverse and experimental releases between 2009 and 2022. Claire McAllister is a jazz singer, composer and organiser based in the south of England whose talents are showcased most recently in her own Caminos album.
The first song cycle collaboration by this new partnership is a highly adventurous and ambitious work, and one which explores a journey through dark places expressed in an improvisation-based language of strange sounds and textures, plus some unexpected left turns into electronic and choral music, before emerging from the woodland and into the morning light. A wide palette of strings, woodwinds, percussion and electronics is used to weave a highly individual musical spell designed to intrigue and entrance listeners.
