Description
This set compiles both original albums recorded by the great Oscar Peterson celebrating the music of Jerome Kern. He recorded the first in Mono in 1952-53 with his trio featuring Barney Kessel on guitar, and Ray Brown on bass, andremade exactly the same twelve tunes in Stereo in 1959 featuring Brown again on bass, and Ed Thigpen on drums.
This set also includes a version of “Look for the Silver Lining” from the 1953 sessions which was not included on the original LP, as well as two outstanding 1950 duets by Peterson and Ray Brown playing two Kern songs (“They Didn’t Believe Me” and “All the Things You Are”) that weren’t recorded for the Song Books. The reading of “I Won’t Dance” from the first Song Book LP appears here on CD for the first time ever.
