The complete Steve Lacy album Evidence(New Jazz 8271), which was his fourth LP as a leader, presents him in a quartet with Don Cherry on trumpet, Carl Brown on bass, and Billy Higgins on drums.
Reflections (New Jazz 8206), features Lacy in another quartet, this time with Mal Waldron on piano, Buell Neidlinger on bass, and Elvin Jones on drums.
The repertoire throughout this CD consists exclusively of compositions by Thelonious Monk and Duke Ellington , both admired by Lacy and influential to his own work.
