Description
FIVE TRACKS, FOUR HOURS, ONE VERY QUESTIONABLE WINDOW
SLADY are definitely back. The world's only all-female Slade tribute band have once again ignored the rulebook, kicked the door down, plugged the amps in and somehow walked away with a brand new mini album.
Introducing EVERYDAY -- five tracks of glam rock crazee times, genre bending fun and unapologetic SLADY-ness, recorded in just four hours at the new QRS Studios in Hastings.
Oh, and did we mention it was a building site?
With a recording window that had literally just been installed, frontwoman Gobby Holder (Danie Cox) and the gang had four hours to get five tracks in the can.
No pressure. No problem. Well... quite a lot of problem. But SLADY don't do sensible. They do SLADY.
And somehow, from the dust, noize, chaos and impending deadline emerged EVERYDAY, a gloriously unhinged mini-album that proves the band aren't content simply standing in Slade's shadow. They're busy throwing glitter around in it.
TRACK ONE: EVERYDAY
Forget everything you thought you knew about Slade's 1974 classic.
Then forget that again.
SLADY's "Everyday" is a wake-me-up-before-you-go-go version of a song you thought you knew.
You absolutely didn't.
TRACK TWO: SEND IT IN A LETTER
A self-penned, heavy glam rock stomper that sounds like it escaped from 1973.
TRACKS THREE & FOUR: LOCK UP YOUR DAUGHTERS / RUN RUNAWAY
Two fan favourites.
Two SLADY makeovers.
Two more reasons to question everything you previously believed about these songs.
"Lock Up Your Daughters" has been given such a SLADY shaped kicking that lead guitarist Davina Hill admits:
"I can't listen to 'Lock Up Your Daughters' the same way anymore."
Then there's "Run Runaway" a proper knees up you're dragged kicking and screaming into having with the girls, whether you want to or not, you simply can't Runaway!
TRACK FIVE: EVERYDAY (REPRISE)
Oh my word...
Just when you think you've survived this far, another mind bending corner is turned into an alternative universe question of, 'What if The Beatles did Slade?!'
Gobby delivers an absolute vocal bombshell, a spine tingling, raw, and irresistible track that pulls you right in and refuses to let go. Layered with hauntingly gorgeous melodies, it's a wonderful finale that will leave you completely hooked and instantly hitting replay for more.
FOUR HOURS. FIVE TRACKS. ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE.
The recording session may have been brutally short, but the ambition certainly wasn't.
"This is the most stressful album I have ever recorded." -- Donna Powell, Drummer
"This album really shows that nothing stops us or gets in the way of our ambition..." -- Gobby Holder, Frontwoman
"I cant listen Lock Up Your Daughter's the same way anymore"- Davina Hill, Lead Guitarist
"Reimagining a classic and doing it justice is what I love about playing with this band." -- Jem Lea, Bassist
SLADY proudly fly the flag as the ultimate nod to glam rock royalty of 1970s legendary band Slade. Not only this but EVERYDAY proves that SLADY are fiercely a band in their own right. And EVERYDAY is also SLADY planting their own flag.
This isn't simply a tribute band recreating the past.
It's a band taking the past, putting it in a glitter cannon and firing it directly into the future.
With Gobby Holder's powerhouse vocals, a ferocious rhythm section, glam rock swagger and an apparent inability to recognise the word impossible, SLADY are discovering just how far they can push their own sound.
Five tracks.
Four hours.
One building site.
One freshly installed window.
Zero sensible decisions.
EVERYDAY is just the beginning! SLADY have arrived. Now hold onto your daughters!
