BRITT EVA LOKKEMO RETURNS TO HER BLUES ROOTS WITH "IN COPENHAGEN"
After more than 50 years on stage, the acclaimed Norwegian vocalist releases her first blues album under her own name
After more than five decades in front of live audiences, Norwegian blues and jazz vocalist Britt Eva Lokkemo releases In Copenhagen on 13 November 2026 -- her first blues album under her own name.
But this is no farewell.
"The blues has been with me from the very beginning," says Lokkemo. "It felt important to return to my musical roots."
Born and raised in Tromso, Northern Norway, Lokkemo began performing at just 11 and has spent more than 50 years moving effortlessly between blues, jazz, French chanson, church music and Portuguese fado.
Her new album brings that experience to a collection of blues classics and jazz standards, including "The Thrill Is Gone" and "Every Day I Have the Blues", interpreted through a voice shaped by a lifetime on stage.
In Copenhagen was recorded with a new band of Nordic musicians, including players known in the UK through their work with Slade drummer Don Powell's Don & The Dreamers. The musicians performed together at Copenhagen's renowned MOJO blues venue immediately before entering the studio, with Don Powell and Curly Erik also joining them on stage.Despite her extraordinary live career -- including two sold-out 50th-anniversary concerts in Tromso -- surprisingly little of Lokkemo's music has previously been available on record.
Now, that all changes.
In Copenhagen brings the music that has been at the heart of Britt Eva Lokkemo's career to a much wider audience for the first time.
