Description
Richard Maltby's popularity and indeed reputation have been somewhat overshadowed by his son, Richard Maltby Jr. who was the director and lyricist of Tony award winning Broadway revues, "Ain't Misbehavin'" and "Fosse" as well as one of the lyricists on "Miss Saigon". This new 2CD set from Jasmine however focuses on his bandleader father, Richard Maltby Senior.
Herein are the albums, Make Mine Maltby which includes "St. Louis Blues Mambo" which was his first charting single in 1954 and Hue-Fi Moods, Maltby With Strings. Along with the LP releases Jasmine have also included both sides of 6 singles for a total of 12 bonus tracks, making this set one of the most comprehensive Richard Maltby sets released to date.
The recorded work of Richard Maltby has been somewhat neglected during the CD era so hopefully this collection will help to redress the balance and return him to his rightful place amongst some of America's most talented and important musicians.
