Duo Concert Frankfurt 1986, was recorded live in Germany on February 15th. The album captures tenor icon Pharoah Sanders and celebrated pianist John Hicks in a moment of profound musical harmony. Sanders, known for his evolution from fierce free-jazz to deeply lyrical spiritualist, plays here with warmth, focus and emotional clarity. Hicks meets him with luminous touch, rich voicings and an intuitive sense of space that elevates every phrase.
Together they deliver a beautifully balanced set of Coltrane classics "Giant Steps", "Central Park West", original compositions such as "Heart To Heart" and more timeless standards. From the serene glow of "After the Rain" to the understated spiritual power of "The Creator Has A Master Plan/Thembi", the duo moves effortlessly between tenderness, swing and transcendence. Their interplay feels almost telepathic, two distinct voices merging into one shared musical vision.
This first-ever vinyl release of the legendary Duo Concert Frankfurt 1986 is a spiritual partnership. The double album is available now and includes new liner-notes by jazz journalist Bret Primack. Affixed on the protective sleeve is the 50th Anniversary Timeless Jazz sticker.
