Paris-based saxophonist and composer Olga Amelchenko is emerging as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary European jazz, combining lyrical writing, expressive improvisation and a deeply personal musical identity. Her growing profile was recognised with a nomination in the Revelation category at France's Victoires du Jazz 2026.
Her album, Touching the Invisible, was composed and recorded largely during Olga's pregnancy and reflects a period in which something deeply felt, but not yet fully known, was gradually becoming real. Rather than approaching that experience literally, Olga explores ideas of hope, transformation, uncertainty and the unwritten future - something invisible slowly taking shape. More groove-driven, lighter and more optimistic than her previous work, the album looks forward with a renewed sense of joy and movement, balancing Olga's melodic sensitivity with electric textures, rhythmic energy and the feeling of standing at the beginning of something new.
