  • Description

Janis Joplin & The Kozmic Blues Band, live from Concertgebouw, Amsterdam, Netherlands April 1, 1969

After leaving Big Brother and the Holding Company, Janis pursued her career as a solo artist. This concert is with her first backing band, the Kozmic Blues Band. A strong line up of session musicians such as keyboardist Stephen Ryder and saxophonist Cornelius "Snooky" Flowers, as well as former Big Brother guitaristSam Andrewand futureFull Tilt Boogie Bandbassist Brad Campbell help showcase Joplin. We find a move towards a sound typified by the use of horns and characterised by a more funky, pop-oriented sound. This live performance from Amsterdam, Netherlands on April 1st 1969, broadcast on VPRO radio highlights the rare perfection of Joplin's voice. We also find all of her most famous songs, remastered here for your listening pleasure.
