Description
Available for the first time on CD, trumpeter Guy Barker's debut album 'Holly J', which was originally released in 1989 on LP only, has been comprehensively re-mastered with a much "bigger" sound. 'Holly J' features the astounding talents of Jason Rebello who was only 18-years old at the time as well as a youthful Nigel Hitchcock on saxophones. The variety and musical interest is also enhanced by the inclusion of veteran vibes player Frank Ricotti whose contribution adds much colour.
Music Critic Mike Hennessey summed up the session succinctly when he said "For a band which has never worked together previously as a unit, the performances on this album are quire remarkable for their cohesion, the relaxed compatibility of the musicians, and the range, technical resourcefulness, and emotional intensity of the solo work. This is an album of tremendous style and maturity for Guy Barker."
