Description
Crickmore:Crewe is a four piece acoustic folk band who, each December, gather to perform a programme of unusual, mostly traditional, often ancient, Christmas songs. They sing in four-part harmony and accompany themselves on stringed instruments, harmonium, concertina, whistles and percussion to create a bygone yuletide atmosphere. "More Christmas Carols & Curios" is their second album and the follow up to the critically acclaimed "Christmas Carols & Curios" (also on Splid Records): "..an inventive and respectful approach to a fascinating selection of song; four excellent voices working effectively both individually and collectively; remarkable, understated musicianship". Nigel Schofield. Tykes News. "Christmas Carols & Curios is a very welcome release, one that genuinely delights in bringing us the joys of the season while sparkling with invention and insights and remaining duly respectful of the traditions whence the songs originate. David Kidman. Fatea.
The line up remains Emma and David Crickmore and Virginia and Peter Crewe. All are well known as individual talents from the Northern English folk scene and they have been coming together as a seasonal quartet to stage their distinctive Christmas show in UK concert halls, country houses and folk clubs for the last few years.
