Description
Dimple Discs is pleased to announce its first release from the Near Jazz Experience. They play wildly improv but tuneful music - cross Can's rhythm section with Roland Kirk, and Motown and you'll get close to where The NJE is coming from. These are three musicians at the top of their game. Hint of soundtracks for spaghetti westerns and Bollywood only enriches the mix! The Near Jazz Experience are Terry Edwards on saxes and trumpets. Following The Higsons, Terry Edwards has balanced a solo career with extensive time in the studio and on the live circuit as a session musician. The list of artists with whom he has performed includes Yeah Jazz, Madness, Gallon Drunk, David Gray, PJ Harvey, Billy Bragg, Jimi Tenor, Lydia Lunch, Spiritualized, Nick Cave, and the Tindersticks. In 2002, Terry performed with the Scapegoats at the David Bowie - curated Meltdown festival in London. Mark Bedford on bass Apart from playing bass on the immortal Robert Wyatt version of 'Shipbuilding', Mark is a key member
of Madness and has passed the time with Voice Of The Beehive and Morrissey. Simon Charterton on drums Key former member of the The Higsons, now often to be found in the company of Anthony Moore of Slapp Happy. On this record they have Mike Garson of David Bowie Aladdin Sane fame and Matt Johnson of Jamiroquai both on keyboards as featured players
