Ase Kleveland & The Salmon Smokers
Description
Ase Kleveland releases her first album in almost 45 years.
Ase Kleveland and The Salmon Smokers played for the first time at the big tribute concert for Leonard Choen in 2017, where they together rocked a packed Oslo Spektrum with a spectacular version of Choen's "First We Take Manhattan". The concert and the television recording left viewers with thoughts about what an artist we lost when Ase chose a career in cultural bureaucracy and politics.
Backed by The Salmon Smokers,Ase Kleveland's "Pa Frihjul" contains a wide range of music that points all the way back to the records that first made her famous in the 1960s, via the 70s and up to a contemporary expression that incorporates blues, folk, soul and rock 'n' roll. Everything sung with one of Norwegian music's most distinctive voices, a vocal authority that now reach listeners of many generations.
The album is produced in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Freddy Holm (Luke Elliot, Tove Boygard)
