Description
"Out In California" is Dave Alvin's first live album and like his studio recordings, this album reflects both sides of Alvin's work, some of the tracks are all-out rock 'n' roll, with The Guilty Men, and some are more acoustic-oriented. The rock 'n' roll tracks feature wild guitar workouts from Dave and performances from the rest of the band that go well beyond the original studio recordings. On the acoustic tracks Dave Alvin revisits "Blue Blvd" and "Andersonville" from his first two CDs as well as tracks from last year's Grammy Award winning album "Public Domain.
The album also features two bonus cuts, a new Dave Alvin song "Highway 99", with the band and a version of a 1920s Bo Carter song "All Round Man". Dave Alvin has always had a huge cult following who will be rushing out to purchase this album. His music has been taken to a wider audience after the 2001 Grammy Awards, where he picked up an award for his "Public Domain" album.
