Description
Laurie Lewis is a pioneer woman in bluegrass, counting Ralph Stanley among her fans and helping pave the way for neo-traditional bluegrass atists like Alison Krauss. Most well-known as a fiddler (and the winner of many old-time fiddle contests) she is also an accomplished guitarist and bassist, and has twice been voted Vocalist Of The Year by the IBMA.
Longtime singing partner Tom Rozum contributes his skills on guitar, mandolin and mandola. Guest House is a combination of folk, old-time bluegrass and country music styles.
The 13 tracks include several originals such as the classic country sound of "Since You Went Away" and the cautionary "Willie Poor Boy", also versions of two Hazel Dickens songs, "My Heart's Own Love" and "Scars From An Old Love", and well known old favourites "Old Dan Tucker" and "Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes". -
