  • Description

The long-awaited follow-up album to 2021's Grammy nominated recording Be Ready When I Call You

Northport NY - M.C. Records together with Wienerworld are thrilled to announce the release of Guy Davis' The Legend of Sugarbelly. It marks the fifth release that Guy and M.C. Records have collaborated on. The celebrated Blues singer-songwriter will be touring in the UK, US and the Netherlands throughout 2024 to support the new record. Visit guydavis.com for more.

The Legend of Sugarbelly is Guy Davis' long awaited follow-up album to his 2021 Grammy nominated recording Be Ready When I Call You. The 13-track release continues and expands upon his skills as a storyteller with 10 original compositions. You will also discover three moving cover tracks Guy has arranged by Sam Chatmon, Blind Lemmon Jefferson, and Leadbelly. On The Legend of Sugarbelly Guy Davis demonstrates his mastery of multiple instruments including 6 & 12-string guitars, mandolin, harmonica, and 5 & 6-string banjos. He's supported on the record by Professor Louie on organ and Chris James on mandolin, and 6-String banjo.

Guy Davis is a two-time, back-to-back Grammy nominee for Best Traditional Blues Album. He's a musician, actor, author, and songwriter. For over 40 years Guy has blended Roots, Blues, Folk, Rock, Spoken Word, and World Music into his own unique gumbo to comment on and address the frustrations of social injustice, touching on historical events, common life struggles, and personal relationships. " My new record has a sound that rubs against your ears like soft Autumn kisses and goes down as smooth as the finest whiskey." Guy Davis
