Description
CARUS-Verlag has recently published musicologically sound reconstructions of the three incomplete surviving cantatas. These include Ehre sei Gott in der Hohe (BWV 197.1) for Christmas Day, Alles, was von Gott geboren (BWV 80.1) for Okuli Sunday and Singet dem Herrn ein neues Lied (BWV 190.1) for New Year's Day, which make it possible to make a previously unknown Bach accessible to today's interested audience. Excellent performers - the Vocalensemble Rastatt, the baroque orchestra Les Favorites and the soloists Miriam Feuersinger (soprano), Terry Wey (alto), Florian Sievers (tenor) and Sebastian Noack (bass) under the overall direction of Holger Speck - show with their equally committed and subtly balanced performance how these works might once have sounded in Leipzig under Bach's direction.
