Description
The Ukrainians grew out of a project started by the '80s Indie band The Wedding Present. They went on to record two legendary John Peel sessions, which were later released as an album 'Ukrainski Vistupi V Johna Peela'. They have recorded on Cooking Vinyl and release their latest offering on Zirka Records.
Recorded at the Spotkanie Folkowe Festival, Czeremcha, Poland, this album captures The Ukrainians in raw, punky, Respublika mode! Full-on zizzy guitars are to the fore in many songs, yet there are many moments of heart-rending delicacy. The packaging, too, is remarkable - a gatefold, recycled card sleeve with a traditional-style embroidery on the front cover. Wow!
