Format Details: Slim Hip Pocket
Description
The Tommy Chase Quartet laid down the six tracks that made up "Hard!" in a two day session in November 1983, but such is the timeless nature of the contents that it could have been made any time in the previous 35 years. Tommy and his compatriots steam through their six pieces, mostly the work of other eminent US jazzmen, in a manner that suggests a splendid time was had by all of the session's participants. From start to finish, the joyful noise of "Hard!" continually blows away any doubter's long-lingering and highly foolish perception that UK jazz players might still be in any way inferior to their American cousins. The album has been out of circulation for far longer than it might have been if we'd had some bonus tracks in our tape library to bolster its original running time and to make it the length of a 'regular' CD. Happily the Hip Pocket series now allows us to once again bring it to you just as you heard it on the original Boplicity vinyl release in 1984.
