Phronesis was a powerhouse trio (Jasper Høiby on bass, Ivo Neame on piano and Anton Eger on drums) known for electrifying interplay, unmatched dynamism, and a fearless approach to contemporary jazz.
The Behemoth marked a new chapter for Phronesis, bringing their distinctive compositions to life on an large ensemble scale. This ambitious album reimagined ten pieces from their back catalogue, each arranged by Julian Argüelles and performed with the Frankfurt Radio Big Band. The result was a vivid tapestry of sound that retained the trio's energy while enhancing it with rich, layered textures. Argüelles' arrangements drew out new dimensions in Phronesis' music, infusing each track with vibrant colour and spirit and capturing the ensemble's renowned dynamism in a broader sonic landscape.
