Description
"To mark the 900th anniversary of Vlierbeek, I was asked to produce a CD featuring the Jean-Baptiste Le Picard organ from around 1737. For the CD program, I could have explored established themes, such as French Baroque music on this French-oriented organ. However, I found it more interesting to explore local music. I discovered and appreciated this music during my research in libraries and online. My research focuses primarily on the musical heritage of the 18th-century Southern Netherlands, including composers such as Matthias Vanden Gheyn, Franciscus Krafft, Dieudonne Raick, and Joannes Jacobus Robson. Their preserved scores and manuscripts lie dormant in various libraries." Paul Van Hooff. Given the 900 years the organ has been at Vlierbeek, the music recorded here on this celebration spans from the 11th to the 20th century making this a marvellous summary of the history of music making in Vlierbeek.
