Originally released on CD in 2005, Iwo-Jima Party was the fourth album by OBLIGACIONES, a band from Vitoria-Gasteiz (Basque Country) operating in the dangerous territory between punk, garage, 70s hard rock and raw rock'n'roll. But Iwo-Jima Party is much more than sheer force. These ten carefully crafted songs are driven by serrated guitars, a crushing rhythm section, hard-hitting Spanish lyrics and melodies that stay with you long after the initial impact. The album carries the urgency of punk and the weight of classic hard rock, but also something far less common: truly accomplished songwriting hidden beneath all the noise and aggression. The band's musical DNA shares connections with Motorhead, Rory Gallagher, Cicatriz and The New Christs..., yet OBLIGACIONES never sound like a mere imitation. They transformed those influences into something unmistakably their own: dark, abrasive, melodic and emotionally uncompromising. The original sessions featured musicians connected to Senor No, MaCarraDa, Los Padrinos, Latex, Vagon de Cola and Sindicato de Musicos.
