Description
Performed live at the legendary Troubadour Nightclub in West Hollywood, California, on 9th March 1971for broadcast on KMET-FM radio, this superb performance finds The Mark-Almond Band at the dawn of their creative journey. Formed by former John Mayall bandmates Jon Mark and Johnny Almond, the group forged a distinctive musical identity, blending jazz, folk, blues and progressive rock into a richly textured and deeply atmospheric sound that stood apart from their contemporaries.
Staged shortly after the release of their acclaimed debut album Mark-Almond, this intimate concert perfectly captures the band's remarkable musicianship and effortless interplay. Jon Mark's expressive song writing and understated vocals combine beautifully with Johnny Almond's soulful saxophone and flute, creating performances that are both sophisticated and emotionally engaging. Backed by a first-class ensemble, the band delivers expansive arrangements filled with subtle improvisation and melodic invention.
