Description
Lux Anime with their conductor Alberto Pozzaglio perform sacred choral works by Italian composer Ruggero Manna.
A pupil of Vincenzo Lavigna (also teacher of Verdi) and of Stanislao Mattei, Ruggero Manna (1808-1864) is a multi-faceted and charming composer. Manna composed in a number of genres including opera, many works for voice and piano, piano with other instruments (violin, cello, flute) and soloists and also choir and orchestra. Manna composed a large amount of sacred works, some of which are included on this album. In Manna converges the Neapolitan school, the counterpoint, the Viennese stylistic resonances and the musical influences of the Italian melodramma. This CD offers the opportunity to rediscover an extraordinary composer.
