Description
The lively and rich musical culture of the German High Baroque was shaped by many composers who have been partially or even completely forgotten today.
However, this is often due more to coincidence than a measure of the quality of the music. Astrid Knochlein and her ensemble have searched archives and libraries for such forgotten gems of German baroque music and present a selection of oboe and recorder sonatas on historical instruments in this recording - quite a few of them in world premiere recordings!
Born in northern Bavaria, Astrid Knochlein's engagement with the recorder started at an early age during her schooling when she attended the 'Meistersinger-Konservatorium' in Nuernberg as a Junior Student for the recorder. She is currently a member of the 'Orchestra La Scintilla' at the Opera House Zurich where she plays in opera productions and also performs at famous festivals such as the Salzburg Festival. Further to this she has accompanied Cecilia Bartoli as a soloist on her tours with several different orchestras. In addition she works as freelance musician with different Ensembles and Orchestras thoroughout Europe.
