Description
The album Solace is now released - an exciting collaboration between jazz singer Josefine Cronholm and Norrbotten Big Band. - I am deeply moved by this project, she says. The idea came about in connection with Josefine Cronholm's 50th birthday in 2021. That was when the Norrbotten big band decided to honor her with a unique album. Joakim Milder, artistic director of Norrbotten Big Band: - As Josefine entered her second half-century, Norrbotten Big Band decided to celebrate her achievements by commissioning six big band pieces from composers who, at different times and in various contexts, have had a connection to Josefine. The result was the album Solace. This is what Josefine Cronholm says about the music: - Each composer's unique musical language has captured who I am, what I need - in order to create. The compositions have merged into a feeling of walking along a path and visiting each person's world. Our worlds. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to interpret your music and your lyrics, and for creating a space where I can create and be myself. Joakim Milder again: - We are very pleased with the result and convinced that the music's occasionally challenging nature will create a portrait of Josefine in which her entire artistry is fully revealed. Josefine Cronholm is one of the great voices in Scandinavian jazz. She has made a name for herself as a singer and composer on the international stage, both through her own projects and through collaborations with artists such as Django Bates and the New Jungle Orchestra. Norrbotten Big Band is a contemporary big band with deep roots in traditional jazz, but with branches extending into soul, funk and contemporary classical music. The orchestra has been nominated for both Swedish and international Grammys.
