Description
Famous musical personalities are often associated with certain places: Bach with Köthen and Leipzig, Handel with Halle and London, Mozart with Salzburg and Vienna, Beethoven with Bonn and Vienna, or Brahms with Hamburg and Vienna.
"And Vienna" often occurs, but "and Göttingen" almost never.
Johannes Brahms is an exception.
The Göttingen Symphony Orchestra under its principal conductor Nicholas Milton honours the great Romantic with a complete recording of his symphonies as well as the "Academic Festival Overture" based on musical material that Brahms heard for the first time at the Göttingen students.
