The new album "Nichts" by the Aachen post-hardcore band FJORT is a 50-minute experience. "Nichts" gains numerous new facets from the band's dense sound, which wanders fluidly between all varieties of hardcore and post-rock. The valleys are deeper than ever, there is hardly any air to breathe in the heights. The atmosphere feels almost tangible. Lyrically, FJORT have always been cryptic and remain true to this line, but on "Nichts" they are also more concrete than ever before. Perhaps because times like these crave ruthlessness more than ever. Maybe also because a kind of gallows humour has found its way onto the album, which skilfully breaks with absolute seriousness. This band has never sounded more varied and simply greater.
