Description
The highly successful Award-winning pop turned jazz singer, songwriter and saxophonist Curtis Stigers stayed in touch with his fans during the pandemic by creating the popular weekly livestreamed show 'Songs From My Kitchen'. Solo and unplugged, with just his voice and guitar as accompaniment, it allowed him to rediscover his older material, play previously unrecorded songs and perform choice covers.
A stripped-down affair made with a crack team of musicians, his new album nods back to that period but also looks ahead to the current and future Curtis Stigers, singer/songwriter and connoisseur of great songs. "I like to think I curated this album as much as I created it," he states. "I called it 'Volume 1' partly as an inside joke, and partly because there are still a lot of great songs out there, and in here, too. You never know."
Containing the singles 'Good To Know You' and 'I Have Everything', the album release will be preceded by a sold out week-long residency (12 shows) at Ronnie Scott's, followed by a full UK tour in May.
"A lean, pop-jazz hipster whose buzz-saw voice, much like that of Tom Waits, slices away glib sentimentality" (New York Times)
