  • Description

From the early 1960s onward, Claudia (or Claudya, as she would later be credited on her records) became a moderately successful ye-ye singer in Spain. She began her career with Quique Roca and his band, recording around ten pop EPs with them, often featuring Spanish versions of international hits. From 1964 until well into the 1970s, she was backed by Ramon y sus Showmen, with whom she released a handful of singles that followed much the same musical direction as her earlier recordings. In 1970, probably in a belated attempt to embrace the soul music craze that had also reached Spain by then, they released this single featuring two dancefloor-friendly, fresh-sounding versions of Anglo-American hits: 'Un millon de lagrimas,' originally a hit for the American rock band The Grass Roots (I'd Wait a Million Years), and 'No te creas tu que tan loca estoy,' a Spanish adaptation of Bill Deal & The Rhondels' 'What Kind of Fool Do You Think I Am.' The rarity of this record suggests that its sales were, in all likelihood, quite modest, despite also being released in Peru, where the Marfer label tried its luck with several artists. It was only in the past decade, many years after its original release, that-following its inclusion on compilations and its rediscovery by collectors and DJs-demand for this record skyrocketed, and unfortunately so did its price. More than 50 years after its original release, we are delighted to present the first-ever reissue of this highly sought-after single, featuring these two outstanding slices of soul made in Spain Side A Un Millon De Lagrimas Side B No Te Creas Tu Que Tan Loca Esto
