Vocalist Carmen Cuesta’s tribute to the great Antonio Carlos Jobim and other Brazilian composers is co-produced with her husband, guitarist Chuck Loeb, who also plays on 6 of the 11 tracks. The album showcases Carmen’s sophisticated and sultry voice on some of the most romantic and evocative bossa nova compositions ever written.
A native of Madrid now living in New York, Carmen Cuesta has been a ‘first-call’ session vocalist for some of the biggest names in jazz and r&b; artists such as Grover Washington Jr., Michael Franks, Gato Barbieri, Peabo Bryson, Earl Klugh, and Jim Hall to name just a few. Carmen appears regularly at New York night spots, often sharing the spotlight with such world-class musicians as Will Lee, Michael Brecker, Peter Erskine, Dave Weckl and, not surprisingly, her husband Chuck Loeb. ‘Mi Bossa Nova’ is Carmen’s sixth album to date.
