  • Description

The Munich-based producer, DJ and percussionist Christian Prommer alongside his Drumlesson bandmate Roberto Di Gioia reimagine, remix and revisit the music of jazz-funk superstars The Crusaders.

Christian Prommer has been producing music for the last 20 years releasing under various names/projects including Fauna Flash, Trüby Trio and working with artists such as DJ Hell, Jazzanova and Peter Kruder (of Kruder and Dorfmeister), on labels such as Compost Records, !K7 and Sonar Kollectiv. With his Drumlesson project, Christian fused his jazz roots with his love of dance music and electronica. Working with a team of expert live musicians, Drumlesson began in 2007 with an instrumental jazz version of the Derrick May's Detroit techno anthem "Strings of Life". It was followed in 2008 by the group's debut album Drumlesson Vol.1, which included organic covers of electronic anthems by Kraftwerk, Patrick Pulsinger, Josh Wink and more.

Another member of Drumlesson is pianist Roberto Di Gioia, together they decided to produce an album that delved into the music of their heroes, The Crusaders. They decided to steer away from the super hits, such as "Streetlife", to concentrate on their favourite material from the 60's and 70's. Christian Prommer plays drums and percussion and handles production. Roberto Di Gioia added piano, Wurlitzer, Fender Rhodes and various synths, as they used the original songs as reference points and inspiration, whilst utilising their many great hooks.
