Description
Benji has a fine pedigree being the son of John Kirkpatrick (Steeleye Span, Albion Country Band, Band of Hope, Brass Monkey. The John Kirkpatrick Band) and Sue Harris (along with John, one of the leading figures of the folk revival).
He is currently a member of Magpie Lane and the BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominated band Dr. Faustus. He guested on the acclaimed CD Bellow by John Spiers & Jon Bowden and is a member of the Spiers & Boden Big Band, Bellowhead.
The CD is a mixture of songs and tunes, traditional and his own compositions. His trademark is the bouzouki, not an instrument usually associated with English traditional music. As with Jon Bowden, Benji does not shy away from taking risks vocally.
On the CD he is joined by John Kirkpatrick, Seth Lakeman (Equation, Cara Dillon Band) and Richard Adams ( Circle of Silence).
