Description
This new CD from DUX presents works by Polish-American composer Stanislaw Skrowaczewski (1923–2017). Skrowaczewski (1923–2017) is known primarily for his work as an outstanding conductor. While his compositional output has been acknowledged in the USA, where he spent a large part of his extremely creative and fruitful life, it is not widely known through Europe and Poland, his home country. DUX is delighted to bring their audience closer to Skrowaczewski's compositions created in the last two decades of the 20th century.
The works presented here share a similar style marked by artistic explorations in the field of sonoristics, which were facilitated by the ensembles for which the compositions were created – they expose the sonic qualities of woodwind instruments, piano and strings. Using tone colours and generating agogic contrasts is a characteristic feature of Skrowaczewski's compositional technique.
