Description
Two violinists and one guitarist combine to perform a dazzling and mesmerising mix of acoustic music, this is the phenomenon known as Koshka. The music of Koshka takes the listener on a journey through a fabulous soundscape of swirling, soaring Russian gypsy dances and evocative airs, while stopping off occasionally at the Parisian Hot Club of Reinhardt and Grappelli.
Koshka are Oleg Ponomarev, Nigel Clark and Lev Atlas. The release of Shara coincides with a special Celtic Connections festival headline appearance where full orchestra and Russian Gypsy dancers and singers will accompany Koshka for their Glasgow Royal Concert Hall performance.
What distinguishes Koshka as a world class act is not only the individual members' virtuosity, but also the fact that they play almost entirely original material, composed by Oleg Ponomarev, widely recognised as one of the leading composers of contemporary world music. -
