This recording is presenting the rare, but in terms of sound very attractive combination of viola and harp. On this CD the Fantasy by the Englishman Arnold Bax of 1927 is the only original composition for these instruments. The Fantasie by Saint-Saëns was written for violin and harp originally. The Sonate by Franz Schubert was primarily a composition for the newly developed Arpeggione and piano. And the last piece on this CD, Lachrymae by Britten, was written for viola and piano.
