A collection of 8 originals and 4 rembetiko classics all delivered with the authentic grit of the old and a clear grasp of the new. Trio tekke produces an array of sounds and ideas out of the tzouras, guitar and double bass, which takes from the traditional greek folk and immerses in world rhythms.
Samas is the second step of the journey in an evolving vehicle that is trio tekke. They've explored the original sound of rembetiko in a whole new light on their first album, 'ta reggetika', and now they've added a new chapter with a daring and experimental album, with a sound uniquely their own.
Samas is a bold journey through the old rembetiko idiom, with a new approach, drawing from latin, jazz and rock influences. In a sound world of its own, trio tekke's second album is set to become a landmark in world music. -
