Description
The Source, led by saxophonist Trygve Seim, presents an extravagant and eccentric album that brings together a broad assortment of favourite compositions played by the group at their summer festival concerts over the past 18 years. With an extensive list of guest artists from all over the world, this studio album is an eclectic celebration of the quartets work fused with Arabic and Indian music traditions and other genres from around the world.
Among the featured artists are singers Ine Hoem (from the band PELbO), Cheb Hocine and Solveig Slettahjell, actors Torbjørn Harr, Andrea Beaein Hovig and Julius Winger, Indian singer Sunanda Sharma, Egyptian keyboard player Fathy Salama (Ensemble Sharkiat), violinist Atle Sponberg, and ECM jazz guitarist Jacob Young.
Recorded at the famed Rainbow Studio in Oslo and engineered by the equally famous Jain Erik Kongshaug, 'The Source of Summer' is an essential purchase for followers of ECM and contemporary jazz and world music fans alike.
The quartet, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, is acknowledged internationally as one of the most exciting bands on the Norwegian jazz scene. The group's previous quartet album, 'The Source', was released on ECM in 2006.
