Description
Tommy Chase was a noted British percussionist. He started to make a name for himself in the 1980s on the back of the Acid Jazz scene, but it was always his band's live shows that paid the bills.
Ray Warleigh was a saxophonist who drew on the darker side of Charlie Parker's music. In many ways his style is a reminder of the cutting intensity of Jackie McClean, though his phrasing occasionally carries echoes of John Coltrane.
The combination of these two musicians for this 1978 set certainly makes for rewarding listening. This 2001 release was the first time this album was reissued on CD.
Personnel: Ray Warleigh (alto saxophone), John Burch (piano), Danny Padmore (bass), Tommy Chase (drums) with: Jon Eardley (trumpet)
