    This new release from the Fryderyk Chopin Institute presents W A Mozart's Requiem in transcription for solo piano by Karl Klindworth. Winner of the Van Cliburn Competition, Schubert Competition in Dortmund and Sendai Competition, Vadym Kholodenko is esteemed for his performances displaying supreme virtuosity, subtle expression and depth of sound. In the 2021/22 season, he was artist-in-residence at the SWR Symphonieorchester.



    His recordings for Harmonia Mundi have included Grieg's Piano Concerto, Saint-Sans's Piano Concerto No. 2 (Gramophone Editor's Choice), all five Prokofiev concertos, and solo works by Tchaikovsky and Prokofiev. His disc featuring solo works by Scriabin received the 'Diapason d'Or de l'annee'.



    Forthcoming plans include recording works by Chopin and Godowsky and also Rzewski's The People United Will Never Be Defeated(for Quartz).



    In 2021 the Fryderyk Chopin Institute released a disc by Kholodenko and Alena Baeva containing violin sonatas by Karol Szymanowski and Ignacy Jan Paderewski and Szymanowski's Mythes.



    Kholodenko was born in Kyiv, into a family with Jewish roots, and began performing in public at the age of 13, appearing in the US, China, Croatia and Hungary. He studied at Moscow Conservatory with the eminent professor Vera Gornostaeva.
