Emmylou Harris and the Hot Band
Description
Emmylou Harris & The Hot Band, live from The Boarding House, San Francisco, CA 28th November 1975.
Emmylou Harris rose to prominence in Gram Parson's Fallen Angels band, quickly carving a name out for herself with her distinctive ethereal voice. After Parson's untimely death in 1973, a distraught Harris, with the help of Linda Ronstadt moved to Los Angeles and was swiftly signed to Warner Brothers. Drawing from the Fallen Angels and recruiting veteran musicians from Elvis Presley's band, she fulfilled the contractual obligation to "get a hot band" together.
Emmylou Harris & The Hot Band's distinctive mixture of country grit, folk feeling and intellect, with rock overtones went on the road in 1975. Red Dirt presents the first night of a three-night run at San Francisco's Boarding House over Thanksgiving weekend in 1975. This live KSAN-FM radio broadcast has been remastered here for your listening pleasure.
Capturing the sold-out show and presenting a snapshot of their signature high energy sound that would go on to win countless crossover fans. Coming between the release of her first two albums, there are songs from both, as well as classics such as Jambalaya and Tonight The Bottle Let Me Down. We can clearly see on the display the high quality and hard working ethic from Harris. She not only carried on Parson's legacy but forged something enduring and transcendental in the country-rock genre.
