Description
After nearly six years of artistic absence from the recording studio, soprano Simone Kermes returns with an album that is both deeply personal and stylistically wide-ranging: La Luce brings together Baroque operatic art, Classical concert arias, and the film-inspired sound worlds of the 20th century, forming a carefully conceived panorama of light and shadow. Kermes is accompanied by the Orchestra of the Warsaw Chamber Opera under the musical direction of Julien Salemkour. In the fast-paced world of the media, she has been active for quite some time now, primarily as a performer of early music with her agile, lyrical coloratura soprano. She has collaborated with Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Teodor Currentzis, Thomas Hengelbrock and Claudio Osele, to name but a few. After a period of absence, her new album 'La Luce' is now being released. Early reviews are surprised at how fresh and youthful her voice sounds. Of special note are the coloratura cascades in the aria "E follia d'un alma stolta" from the virtually unknown opera *Giob* by Ditters von Dittersdorf. It is a remarkable example of perfect vocal control. The selection of pieces may seem somewhat arbitrary, but the singer has her own personal story behind each of the chosen tracks. For the very first time ever, the heirs to Ennio Morricone's estate have granted permission for a new recording of the famous Vocalise from *Once Upon a Time in the West*.
