Description
This box set brings together three recordings of Johann Sebastian Bach's great Passions that are outstanding in many respects.
Yes, you read correctly: Three Passions!
In addition to the two well-known settings according to St. Matthew (BWV 244) and St. John (BWV 245, here, by the way, in the rarely heard version from 1749), the St. Mark Passion BWV 247, composed in 1731, is also heard here, which could be reconstructed according to preserved parody models.
Instead of recomposing the lost recitatives, the well-known actor Dominique Horwitz recites the Gospel text.
Among others, the Gaechinger Cantorey conducted by Hans-Christoph Rademann and the Kammerchor Stuttgart can be heard.
