Description
Following the release of his only solo album Thanks, I'll Eat It Here and the subsequent tour, Lowell George died of a heart attack aged just 34, it was later the same year surviving members of Little Feat finished and released Down on the Farm (1979). A double compilation album of rare studio outtakes and live recordings. But the loss of George hit the band hard and shortly after they disbanded.
It wasn't until 1987 Little Feat reformed when Barrere, Clayton, Gradney, Hayward and Payne added songwriter/vocalist/guitarist Craig Fuller, formerly from the band Pure Prairie League, and Fred Tackett on guitar, mandolin and trumpet. The band received more exposure than ever, including an appearance on Saturday Night Live. Concerts were booked nationally and Little Feat played enthusiastic, sold-out shows.
The performance here, live from the Fox Theater, Atlanta was broadcast on the 23rd November 1988 by KROQ 106.7FM and features Dixie Chicken, Fatman in The Bathtub (Dixie Chicken 1973). Spanish Moon, Rock and Roll Doctor & Oh Atlanta (Feats Don't Fail Me now 1974).
Best known for their combination of California rock and Dixie-inflected funk-boogie, they craftily blend folk, blues, rockabilly, country and jazz to create a unique style all their own, garnering a faithful grass-roots following. Simply put, Little Feat's sound transcends traditional music boundaries and they offer their fans an unforgettable live performance. Enjoy!
