  • Description

Since Fanfare Ciocarlia burst onto the global music scene from a small Moldovan village in 1997, the band has been wowing audiences with their blistering brass sound. They have helped make Balkan music hip, have appeared in major films and have inspired musicians, DJs and writers worldwide. These gypsy brass legends are known for their energetic performances and love to perform, entertain and tour. In Canada, jazz and rock guitarist Adrian Raso is busy with countless musical projects, playing as elegantly and dapperly as he dresses. After the success of their first collaboration, 2014's Devil's Tale, both Raso and Fanfare Ciocarlia knew one thing: it was time for the devil to ride again! While Devil's Tale was an ambitious musical experiment - a bold fusion of styles - the recording of The Devil Rides Again was proof that their musical chemistry still fits. This time around, Raso, who plays guitar and banjo, leads the brass band powerhouse through eight original instrumental compositions as well as covers of Jolene (Dolly Parton) and I'm A Man (The Spencer Davis Group). The album is crowned with a breathtaking reinterpretation of Blue Drag by Django Reinhardt. With 'The Devil Rides Again', Adrian Raso and Fanfare Ciocarlia prove once again that when jazz, rockabilly and Balkan brass music meet, the result is pure magic.
