Description
Vamp is a rollercoaster ride of high energy, big band sounds filtered through a post-minimalist perspective. Graham Fitkin has brought together nine virtuoso musicians to perform his whirling Balkan and gypsy tinged musical journeys. Saxes, trumpet, percussion, bass, harps, piano and guitar. Different dance styles from disco to the Gay Gordons are treated to Fitkin's trademark tight rhythmically complex and mesmerising approach with hints of Steve Reich, Herb Alpert and Bellowhead on speed. As Mark Kermode said at one of their recent gigs 'Fantastic evening seeing amazing Fitkin Band blur the boundaries between prog, avant garde, jazz and skiffle. Mind duly frazzled." -
