Norwegian classical harmonica player Sigmund Groven celebrates 40 years as a recording artists. With 'Sigmund Groven Collection Vol. 2: Tradition', which focuses on his more folk-orientated music.
In 2014, Sigmund Groven released his first album - in a series of three - with chosen recordings from his 40 years as a recording artist. The second album is now released; 'Tradition'. For five decades Sigmund Groven has had an international career as soloist, composer and recording artist. He made his recital debut on Norwegian radio in 1965, and his first LP was released by Polydor in 1975. To celebrate his two anniversaries, Grappa Music Group presents the "Sigmund Groven Collection", a series of three CDs featuring highlights from his recording career as well as some newly recorded and previously unpublished tracks. Vol. 1, "Harmonica Hits" was released in 2014. Vol. 3 will focus on his classical repertoire.
"In the right hands the lowly mouth-organ can be an instrument of great beauty and sophistication. Sigmund Groven, like Tommy Reilly and Larry Adler before him, makes full use of the wide range and tonal expressions that the harminica is capable of. His musicianship is superb, and he now unquestionably reigns supreme as one of the finest exponents of the harmonica in the world" - Sir George Martin, producer of The Beatles.
