Description
For fans of Alice Donut, The Jesus Lizard, Killdozer and Black Flag. GoJuMo is built around two-fifths of cult New York underground institution Alice Donut: guitarist-turned-bassist Michael Jung and founding drummer Stephen Moses. The pair have played together for more than thirty years, from Alice Donut's Jello Biafra-championed Alternative Tentacles catalog through later projects Um and Mustafina. Their locked-in rhythm section gives Let Us In the crooked swing, abrasion and off-center humor longtime Alice Donut listeners will recognize.
They are joined by guitarist and vocalist Ev Gold of Brooklyn's Cinema Cinema, whose 450-plus shows across eleven countries include extensive touring with Black Flag founder Greg Ginn. The three first crossed paths during Martin Bisi's BC35 sessions in 2016 and formed GoJuMo in late 2024. Their first rehearsal produced three songs, including the album's opening single, 'Failed Math.'
Recorded by Martin Bisi at BC Studio, Let Us In was captured mostly live off the floor with almost no overdubs; no song needed more than three takes. The ten tracks turn dead-end jobs, gatekeeping, addiction and loss into wiry, low-end-heavy noise punk. Mixed by Jung at HizHaus and mastered by Scott Anthony. First pressing of 100 black-vinyl copies by Smashed Plastic Chicago.
