  • Description

Eric Brace and Peter Cooper were a prolific Nashville duo in the midst of a fine career when they played an opening set for the great Nanci Griffith. That's when they met Thomm Jutz, her guitar-playing sideman who happened to also be a world-class recording engineer with his own studio.
They recorded two duo albums at Thomm's place, but his contributions on guitar and vocals were so indispensable that Peter and Eric began taking Thomm out on the road with them whenever he could make it.
They officially became a trio with the release in 2017 of 'Profiles in Courage, Frailty, and Discomfort'. Out on Eric's East Nashville label Red Beet Records, it's packed with 14 songs by all three members, tackling such weighty topics as moonwalks, steamboat captaining, dollar-slots, Johnny Cash's gravesite, Jerry Lee Lewis's birthplace, Willie Nelson's notions of eternity, the downside of Parkersburg, West Virginia, and a Tennessee town flooded for the sake of electricity.
Eric, Peter, and Thomm each has something distinct and slightly skewed to say about the world, and when they bring their singular perspectives to the trio table, it's a perfect example of a whole being much greater than the sum of its parts.
