India Electric Company present the second part of a series of releases exploring contrasting themes between the country and the city focusing on traditional music of England and Scotland.
Drawing on Northumbrian tunes, the great song collectors of the twentieth century and W.H Auden's Age of Anxiety, it is a record that fuses folk references with a unique contemporary arrangements using prepared piano and sub bass accordion.
Recorded in the National Trust's Sutton House in Hackney and an empty Devonshire house this is fresh thinking traditional music with a deeply rooted country imprint. In association also with the EFDSS (English Folk Dance and Song Society), Seven Sisters is a body of work that is built around using traditional instruments and tunes in contemporary ways. -
